Our doctors are experts in both orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.

While orthodontics concern movements of the teeth only, dentofacial orthopedics is used to direct the face as the jawbones, facial muscles and teeth grow and mature.
Since facial growth happens mostly during the younger years, children are the main recipients of dentofacial orthopedics.
But actually, both children and adults can benefit from these outstanding treatments.

The orthodontics aspect of our practice is most easily understood, but the dentofacial orthopedics aspect can be harder for patients to grasp.

Dr. Curiel did many years of intensive research specifically in dentofacial orthopedics; he wrote and published his Master’s thesis in orthopedic therapy, receiving summa cum laude which is the highest recognition for this work.

At Curiel Orthodontics, we use special appliances to properly move facial irregularities into perfection. Orthopedic treatment can be done during or before a patient receives orthodontic treatment with braces.

This allows us to identify any present problems in the jaw, teeth and face while also developing a comprehensive treatment plan that combines orthodontics with dentofacial orthopedics.
